Disclaimer – I don’t own Pirates of the Caribbean.
“Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me,” Captain Jack Sparrow said. “And something about really bad eggs, but what’s next?”
Jack had forgotten the words to the song, and his crew refused to tell him them what they were.
“I – ah – we pilfer we plunder we – um, no, now it’s gone.”
“Man over board!” he heard Cotton’s parrot yell, and he promptly abandoned his lyric salvage attempt.
He glanced over the side of the Black Pearl, and saw a teenage boy sitting on a wooden door, cross-legged.
He didn’t seem to notice the ship, and was humming to himself.
They had to force him to come aboard the ship.
“No, NO!” He screamed wildly, “I’m waiting for someone, she said she’d be back! Let me go, let me go!”
“Hold him, he’s gonna jump!”
“She said she’d be back, she promised, leave me be!”
“Boy, what are you talking about?” Jack demanded as the boy continued along that line of thought, that he needed to stay, he had to stay, at least until she came. “Who is she?”
The boy smiled suddenly.
“My sister,” he whispered, and then he fainted.
“What’re you all staring at, you scalawags? Get back to work!” Jack yelled, glaring at the dirty young man they’d dragged onto the ship.

The young, fair-haired, dark-eyed captain stared into the distance.
She worried that she wouldn’t find her older half brother in time. She had taken quite a risk to help him escape her mother, but he should be all right on her ship now that her mother had searched it and not found him there.
Guilt weighed down her shoulders, but he’d told her that it wasn’t her fault that mother had shown her true face after father died. It hadn’t been a big surprise for either of them – her affection was cold, even to her only daughter.
She turned her face into a cool mask, showing no emotion, before turning to the crew. She was sure that they were spies of her mother, some of them were. That was one reason she was getting rid of them at the next stop, right before she went for her brother.
She wished that she could know if he was still alive.

“So, boy, who are you?” A grizzled old pirate asked the young man they’d saved.
The young man took a deep breath. He was much calmer now. He figured that they were pirates, and pirates wouldn’t be his stepmother’s henchmen.
“I am Salvyn al’Lythe, prince of the Island of Tempests. I suppose, in a regular situation, you people would get some sort of reward for saving me, but as it is, I might be killed yet.”
“What? You’re a prince? Where the bloody ‘ell is the Island of Tempests?
“Ah… the Island of Tempests is supposed to be secret. Oops. Anyway, it’s filled with magic users and fantastical creatures. And my stepmother rules it, now that my father is dead. I would’ve been King, but she says I’m not the rightful ruler and keeps trying to kill me. She likes being Queen, loves the power. I would be dead now if my sister didn’t smuggle me away in her ship. She had to leave me here until her mother searched her ship. She’ll come soon.”
“Ah? And what makes you think she’s on your side, that she didn’t leave you out to die?”
“She is. I know she is, that’s all,” Salvyn said, but he didn’t seem too sure.

“We're rascals, scoundrels, villains, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho,” the young exiled prince sang, bored with talking to Mr. Cotton’s parrot (that was what he had been doing for the last half hour or so).
“Hey, boy! You know that song?” Jack asked, and most of the crew glared at the teenager.
“Eh, what song?”
“The song you were just singing!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You were just singing. About Hos.”
“Huh? Did you just call me a Ho?”
“A what?”
“A Ho!”
“Ahoy what?”
“d**n it, I don’t even know. What were you talking about?”
“A song. You were singing it and I want to know the lyr… lyres … no … la … words. I want to know the words.”
“Oh. What song was it?”
“Something about pirates and eggs.”
“Oh. Was there burning and looting in it?”
“I think so.”
“Then I think this is it…
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We burn up the city, we're really a fright,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We're beggars and blighters, ne'er-do-well cads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads,
Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho,” he sang again, but this time the winds picked up and very far away a very small cyclone was created inland. He grinned at the confusion a three-inch cyclone would create.
“I love that song!” Jack said, and then promptly was distracted.
“There’s another ship headed this way, and the flag is all weird!” someone shouted.
“It’s changing colors…” Captain Jack stared at it and was nearly hypnotized, until Salvyn slapped him.
“Hey! Why did you hit me?”
“Let’s see… you were being hypnotized.”
“Oh! Thanks, then.”
“That looks like one of my Evil Stepmother’s ships.”
“She after you, kid?”
“She probably thinks I’m dead. They’ll just try to take this ship and it’s cargo.”
“Hey, no way! I’m the pirate, she can’t steal from me, and I just got this ship back. It took ten years!” Jack glared at the ship.
Someone screamed from the other ship, and a ball of fire came hurtling at the Black Pearl.
Sylvan waved a hand, and the ball of fire plunged into the ocean. He yawned, “Amateurs.”
“They aren’t getting away with that,” Jack yelled, “Fire the cannons!”
Salvyn grinned as the mage on the other ship tried to deflect what the man thought was a ‘magical bombardment’ and therefore failed miserably. The effect was a huge hole in the ship.
“Now for the finale,” Salvyn muttered, making a violent gesture with both hands.
The other ship was wrenched apart, thrown into the air, and dropped into the ocean. People shrieked, and clung to boards. The cargo gently floated to the deck of the Black Pearl.
Captain Jack Sparrow smiled, “That could come in useful.”
Salvyn laughed.
